About Mrs. Milliken Born in Atlanta, GA
Moved to Cartersville summer of 2015 Married 9 years to Ben We have 2 sons- Taylor and Ethan Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Walden University, Bachelor’s Degrees in Business Management and Sociology from Georgia State University This is my 12th year of teaching Taught Kindergarten, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grades , General Education, EIP- Second, Fourth, and Fifth In my spare time… I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling.

September 5th – 7th … Cognitive Abilities Test September 13th – 18th…………………………Iowa Assessment April 9th – 24th…………………………Georgia Milestones End of Grade Assessment August-May……………………………….Reading/Math Inventory (Lexile Level) October 15th – 19th ………………………..Conference Week (Early Dismissal at 12:10) Grades and Behavior Report cards will be sent home at the end of each nine week grading period. Progress Reports will be sent home as needed. Daily Behavior-Color written each day on agenda

Attendance Absences & Tardies
Make-up work will be sent home to be completed Not all work can be made up Send in an excuse letter/doctor’s note After 5 absences I must contact you After 10 absences the school will contact you (regardless of absence notes)

Graded Papers Papers with a comment, check, star, etc. are practice pages Papers with a 3+, 3, 2, 1 are graded for assessment purposes Grading Scale: 3+ Exceeds Standards 3 Meets Standards 2 Progressing Towards Meeting Standards 1 Limited Progress or Does Not Meet Standards Any grade of “1” is to be signed and returned Progress Reports at 4 1/2 weeks in areas of concern

Homework Homework will be given on Monday and is due on Friday
Please work on homework nightly Help your child with his/her homework if he/she gets stuck. You should not have to help with every problem. Check your child’s homework for accuracy and quality of work Homework is not used as a grade. It’s meant to reinforce the skills learned in school Your child should be responsible for making sure his or her homework is in their BEE book and is returned to school Homework should not take more than 40 minutes per night In addition to the weekly homework packet, your child should be reading every night and studying their spelling words.

Whole Group Mini Lessons Independent Writing Writing Conferences Writes in variety of genres such as narrative, informational, persuasive, & response to literature Spelling & Grammar

Other Information Birthday Treats ~ shared at lunch so please make sure they are individually cut! Snacks ~ send in a healthy snack daily Join PTA Please initial your child’s agenda nightly Classroom Volunteers: Please consider volunteering in the class throughout the year. There is a volunteer paper in your packet on your child’s desk. If you would like to be our room parent or volunteer, please let me know!
