8 NCAA Eligibility and Requirements
To be considered qualified for playing sports at the collegiate level: Graduate from high school Complete a core curriculum: Earn an academic GPA and ACT or SAT score consistent with NCAA requirements Register online (EligibilityCenter.org)

9 NCAA Divisions I & II Consult the NCAA Freshman Eligibility Standards Quick Reference Sheet on the website Website address: center.org ACT and SAT scores must be sent directly to NCAA from the testing agency. NCAA’s SAT/ACT code is 9999.

10 Test Calendar Consider what tests you will take and make a plan in advance. PSAT (October 11) State Testing: SAT, Workkeys, M-Step (April 10-12) Student Scheduled College Entrance Testing Advanced Placement Exams (May 7-18) National Foreign Language Exams (Jan – April) Michigan Mathematics Prize Competition (October and December)

12 2018 AP Exam Schedule If you are going to be absent from the scheduled AP testing date(s) for unavoidable reasons, notify the Records Clerk in the Counseling Center as soon as possible so that alternate accommodations can be made for you. If you are receiving special accommodations for the SAT and want the same for the AP exams, notify your counselor.

SAT I and II (reasoning & subject tests) Register online Carefully review prospective college application requirements Only take SAT subject if schools require the test ACT Be sure to register for the ACT with writing Register Online – plan ahead.

19 College Representative Visits
College admissions officers from over 100 colleges and universities visit GP South For upcoming visits check: Naviance, counseling bulletin board, CRC, or listen to announcements To attend a visitation, sign up on Naviance Contacting the college, visiting the college, meeting with the admissions officer, ing, etc., during junior year can add to your chances for admission when you apply senior year.

21 Campus Visits The Office of Admission at Alma college suggests you ask these questions: How is admission to the college determined? How do I have a campus tour? Sit in on a class? Have lunch in a dining hall? Stay overnight in a dorm? Do you have a Career Planning program? What is the school’s overall job placement rate? What is it in my intended major? What kinds of financial aid programs are available? What extra forms do I fill out? Are there any special scholarships offered by the school or its alumni? Can I have a car on campus during my freshman year? What are the dorm facilities like?

23 Financial Aid and Scholarships
Financial Aid and Scholarship information is available both in the Counseling Center and in the Career Resource Center. Now is the time to start researching options for next year. Attend Financial Aid Night January 31, in the auditorium Register with FastWeb: online scholarship search engine Check Naviance and the CRC Scholarship page Research scholarships affiliated with your parents’ business, religious organizations, vocational interests, community non-profits and the like
