1 When Fantasy Sports came to Arizona

2 The Facts are The Facts Arizona Gaming statutes did not allow for Fantasy Sports when the compacts were negotiated This action would be considered a new form of gaming The exclusivity of the compacts does not allow for a new form of gaming without invoking the poison pill provision of the compacts Arizona has taken “a strong stance against illegal Internet gambling, which is where daily fantasy sports betting falls within this jurisdiction.” Excerpt from Mark Brnovich, Arizona Attorney General, November 20, 2015 letter to DraftKings.

3 The Impact is Grand “Any change in State law, whether enacted by the State legislature or a vote of the people, that allows for an expansion of gaming off Indian lands that was not lawful on May 1, 2002, permits Tribes to offer gaming without limitation.” The contributions to education, trauma and emergency services, tourism, wildlife conservation and funding for the Office of Problem Gaming all but disappear. To date contributions amount to over $1.2BL Arizonans would risk all of this to legalize a commercial gambling industry that will share no revenues with the State.
