STEPHANS HISTORY LESSON
ACTS 7:17-41

1 Moses spent the first 40 years of his life in Egypt where he was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians

Heb 11: By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

 2 Moses after fleeing Egypt spent the next 40 years of his life in Midian where he married Zipporah and had two sons named Gershom and Eliezer.

 3 When Moses was 80 years old God appeared to him in the wilderness of Mt Sinai (the mountain of God) through and Angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

4 The Angel of the Lord was a theophany (pre-incarnate appearance of Christ.)

5 Moses was to Deliver Israel from the Bondage of Egypt

6 After the Exodus Israel spent 40 years in the wilderness because of their unbelief.

 7 Take note that Stephen refers to Israel as the “Church in the wilderness”.

 8 There are two bodies that compromise the Church in the New Testament; the Organizational (Local Church; visible) and the Universal (Organism; not seen,) whereas Jesus Christ is the head of both.

1 Corinthians 12:13-14 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.For the body is not one member, but many.

Rom 3:1-2 What advantage then hath the Jew
Rom 3:1-2 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God. Rom 9:4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

 9 The bible was primarily written by Jews, the oracles, the covenants, and the law were all given to them.

 10 All that Moses said and did found many of the Jews disobeying him as they were idolaters, fornicators, tempters, and murmurers.
