Cause of disease understood by rural people are Supernatural Causes of disease Physical

Supernatural cause Wrath of gods: Chicken pox
Breach of taboo: STD due to sex with lower caste Past sins: TB and leprosy Evil eye: Amulet and incantations recited by exorcist- an exorcist is a person who is believed to be able to cast out the devil or other demons. A priest, a nun, a monk, a healer, a shaman or other specially prepared or instructed person can be an exorcist

Impure water cause disease Impure blood cause boils and scabies.

Disposal of human excreta: still considered harmless open defecation exist For city people

Waste water is allowed to flow the street Solid waste is thrown anywhere they want

Food habits Diet influenced by local condition, religious culture and belief. Beef vs pork Food that generating heat in the body: Fish, meat, eggs Food that cooling the body: Milk, vegetables and lemon. Eating in a same plate shows brotherwood Ghanja and Bhang are common among sadhus

Marriage is incomplete without birth of a child Not using contraceptives- creates population burden Breastfeeding: colostrum is not pure.
