Adverbs Adverbs tell us how something is done.
How fast, often, badly etc. They ad someting to the verb. Examples: We walk to school. - We walk to school daily. We stopped working. - We stopped working suddenly. We run. - We run fast.

Place in a sentence Adverbs always go before the main verb
Suzie angrily walked to her mother. Jim quickly started to work. ! BUT ! Adverbs always go after the verb ‘to be’ We are happily cycling to school. Junior is quietly listening to his teacher.

Regular = adjective + ly
Form of adverbs Regular = adjective + ly Examples: quick – quickly sad – sadly nice – nicely

Form of adverbs If the adjective already ends in – y, you replace the –y by – ily Examples: noisy – noisily happy - happily
