1. Revise your essay
Check for personal pronouns (I, you, me)- take them out if you find any!
Use editing checklist to make sure you have all the parts of the essay.
Read each paragraph for flow; add transition or commentary words or sentences where needed.
Delete (take out) any repetitive or unnecessary information.
Reread your essay thinking about the following questions:
- Have I answered the essential question completely?
- Does my evidence support my claim? Is it accurate?
- Do the sentences in each paragraph work together to express one main idea?
6. Read your essay out loud to listen for flow and grammar.

Check for verb agreement.
Look for sentence fragments.
Check pronouns.
Double check spelling.
