Opening Activity Look at the word problems below. Solve the problems in your spiral and list any important information or keywords that helped you solve the problem. Have homework out and ready to be checked. (Page 46, #15-18)

Homework Check -40 ÷ 4 = -10; $10 -22 ÷ 11 = -2; 2 points
-40 ÷ 4 = -10; $10 -22 ÷ 11 = -2; 2 points -75 ÷ (-15) = 5; 5 targets -99 ÷ (-9) = 11; 11 times

Applying Integer Operations
How do we apply the multiplication and division of integers to word problems?
4
Learning Goals LG 702: Students will be able to apply and extend previous understandings of operations to add and subtract rational numbers. LG 703: Apply and extend previous understandings of operations to multiply and divide rational numbers.
5
What are we doing today? Today I am working with integers and word problems. So that I can determine which sign to use for integers and which operations to use in solving word problems. I’ll know I’ve got it if I can solve a problem like this:

Before we begin… New textbook pages to tear out: Pages 57 – 110
Keep the pages you have already used at home, but do NOT throw them away. The material covered on those pages will all be used on our Unit 1 Test.

Quiz Page 56, #1-7 Put your name on the top of your paper, then tear it out of your book/folder. You will have the remainder of class to complete this quiz. When you are done: - Turn your quiz into your class bin. - Take any extra time to make-up any missing assignments.
