12 Transition Words - Bridges
Bridges, or transitional words and phrases, help to guide readers through a text. Bridges should be used as just that—a bridge connecting sentences and/or paragraphs. Within paragraphs, use bridges to smooth the flow of ideas from one sentence to another. Between paragraphs, use bridges to connect your ideas for an overall flow throughout the essay. Bridges should be placed at the beginning of paragraphs or sentences, rather than at the end.
