2. Lenses A hand lens magnifies objects, or makes them look larger.
Most hand lenses contain one glass or plastic lens.
A lens is a curved transparent object that bends light.
The shape of the curve affects how the light bends

3. Lenses
Concave lens:
It is thicker at the edge than it is at the center.
It spreads light waves apart.
Example: the view finder of a camera has a concave lens that makes the objects look smaller.
That way you can look in the view finder & see what the whole picture will look like.
Convex lens:
It is thicker at the center than it is at the edges.
It bends light waves to make them come together.
A convex lens can be used as a magnifier or to make an image on a screen.
The lens of a camera is a convex lens,
it brings light waves together on a film to produce an image.
