2. Traffic Traffic creates numerous problems in urban areas.
Most families in the more developed countries of Western Europe, North America, and Japan own their own car.
The car gives individual families greater mobility and, because it allows them to travel from “door to door”, gives them greater freedom of movement and choice in where they live, work, shop, are educated, and find their recreation.
Widespread use of the car causes many urban, environmental, economic, and social problems.
