myStation is an information, education and entertainment tool designed to enhance the patient and family experience during a hospital stay. What does it do? Provides access to: TV Internet Movies Games Information about our organization Patient education videos 2

myStation How do you access myStation? Use either the:
pillow speaker or wireless keyboard 3

Start Up The first time you turn on myStation it will ask what language you would like to use. The language selection only applies to the menu items but NOT to the custom content or the patient education videos. The language choice will be reset when the patient is discharged. The new patient will be asked to select their desired language.

myStation Explanation Video
When the patient opens myStation a video will play that explains what myStation is and how to use it. After the video plays then the My Hospital home page displays The video will only play the first time the patient is admitted or if they are transferred to another bed.

myStation – Home Page The Home Page allows the patient to select from the Entertainment menu or from the selections on the right. We will begin by selecting the My Hospital button on the right.

The MyHospital page provides selections for: Hospital Information Education Library Featured Internet Sites

Hospital Information Shows information about : Food Choices Gift Shops
Hospitality Services Language Services Pastoral Care Patient Rights Pharmacy Information Parking Visiting Hours and Guidelines The information presented is location specific

Education Library The Education Library shows the current list of Patient Education videos that are available. Education video categories are pre- assigned to each hospital based on the patient population. For example, birthing videos can only be viewed at WCH.

Featured Internet Sites
Select Featured Internet Sites from the My Hospital menu to view quick links to common Internet favorites or helpful websites. Websites are filtered for appropriate content and favorites cannot be added by the patient. myStation does not support Flash therefore patients will not be able to view programs such as Net Flicks or You Tube.

Next we will select My Care Plan

My Care Plan The patient will be prompted to enter a PIN The PIN is the patient’s date of birth. The format of the pin must be MMDDYYYY with no hyphens, slashes. One digit months and/or days must have a leading zero. For example if the patient’s date of birth was January 2, 1953 the format would be –

My Care Plan After the patient enters their pin number and presses the Submit button, they will be able to view their medications, allergies demographic information. All of this information is pulled from PowerChart. When the patient is admitted, the patient’s health information will be available in myStation. When the patient is discharged, all personal information is deleted from myStation.

myStation – Settings Next we will select Settings

Settings Settings allow the patient to personalize portions of myStation. The patient can change the language setting choose a theme that will come up when MyStation starts up

Settings - Administration
Nurses can reboot the device from the Administration setting. The nurse would: Enter the Security Pin Click Submit Then select Restart this device

myStation – TV Next we will select TV

TV Selecting TV from the home page allows the patient to watch a variety of channels. Press the TV button twice to view the channel selections

Movies Movies are updated throughout the year
Movies at WCH are G rated only

Music The patient will be able to listen to different radio stations

Other Games and myStation
Patients at WCH on the Pediatric and Adolescent unit have access to a: DVD player Wii console The Pediatric and Adolescent unit already have their gaming systems plugged into the set-top box. The patient will need to select TV from the home page and change the channel to either 200 or 300 to use the Wii or the DVD player.

Issue Resolution Call the Help Desk at if you experience a problem. Be prepared to provide the room number where the issue is occurring.
