2. Intended use: Objective: Larger Educational Goal:
The facilitator will use the slides to show different pictures of the ruins and artifacts of Indus Valley Civilization and ask them to reconstruct the past with the help of the pictures. While students of one group share their conclusions, others challenge them. The group sharing the conclusions are then expected to support their conclusions with evidence.
Objective:
To enable students to recreate the past with the help of pictures.
To enable students to support their conclusion with either proof or logical thinking.
To help the students realize that it is important to question assumptions which are not based on facts and that very often it is difficult to separate the two.
Larger Educational Goal:
It is important for students to perceive the investigative role of the historian and the dynamic nature of the subject as old knowledge and assumptions may be questioned in the light of new evidence
found. By giving the students a chance to step into the shoes of a historian, one gives her a glimpse of the mystery associated with the subject and create the thrill of reconstructing the past on the basis of evidence.
