2. Speed An objects speed is the rate at which is position is changing.
It is measured in distance per unit time… Eg
Km per hour
Metres per second

3. Velocity An objects velocity is its speed AND direction.
Eg Speed = 10 meters per second
Velocity = 10 Meters per second North

5. Calculating speed Speed = Distance / Time eg:
I travel for 50 km in 30 mins
Speed = 50 km / (1/2 hour)
= 100 km hour eg
I travel 120 m in 10 seconds
= 120/10 = 12 m/sec

6. Common speed units km/hr = Kilometres per hour m/s = meters per second
Knots = Nautical Miles per hour
Conversion:
Km/hr to m/s – divide by 3.6
m/s to km/hr – multiply by 3.6
