2. Journal expectations
As we’ve talked about before, the journal entries are meant to express your opinions, feelings, or predictions about events that took place in each chapter. With that being said, I expect to see lots of “I”, “Why”, “If”, etc. I don’t want you to simply summarize the events. You can have some summary to help you remember what happened, but it is more important that you include your personal thoughts/reactions to those events.

5. How many points are they worth?
Each journal is worth 5 points. If you completed and turned in the first journal I gave you full points no matter what. The other two journals were graded for content and how accurately you met the expectations. If you didn’t do well on one or two of those journals, that’s ok. Although we will be completing 9 journals, I will only be counting the highest 6. So, that means I will forgive your lowest 3 entries. Journal points total: 30

6. Letters
The letters are supposed to be used in conjunction with the journals. That means you can repeat ideas and questions from your journals and include those in your letter. Remember, there are three parts to the journals and in order to get full points, you will need to complete each part. Don’t forget that you and your partner will write to each other at the same time. When you respond, you only have to respond to section two (the questions), but you may respond to other parts if you choose.

9. How many points are the letters worth?
Each letter is worth 30 points. There will be 3 main letters and 3 response letters. You will get 15 points for the initial letter and 15 for the response letter. This means that each section, or paragraph, of the letters is worth 5 points. Letters points total: 90
