Penicillin resistance (a) was divided into intermediate resistance (MIC of mg/L) and high-level resistance (MIC ≥ 2 mg/L), while erythromycin resistance (b) was divided into mef phenotype (resistance to erythromycin and susceptibility to clindamycin) and erm phenotype (resistance to both erythromycin and clindamycin).
