1 The Grace to Wait Psalm 62 07/08/2018 Dr. Dane Boyles

2 Why Don’t We Like to Wait?
It implies that someone else is in control. To wait means that I pause for further instruction.

3 Waiting upon the LORD demands three things:
I must be sensitive to the LORD. I must trust the LORD. I must be obedient to the LORD.

4 1 To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul;
2 in you I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. 3 No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse. (Ps 25:1-3)

5 20 Guard my life and rescue me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.
21 May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope is in you. (Ps 25:20-21)

6 13 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. (Ps 27:13-14)

7 7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. 9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land. 34 Wait for the LORD and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you will see it. (Ps 37:7, 9, 34)

8 14 You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word
14 You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. (Psalm 119:14) 11 the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. (Psalm 147:11)

9 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isa 40:29-31)

10 4 Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. (Isaiah 64:4)

11 Why Does God Require Us to Wait at Times?
He wants to refocus our attention from the desire to Himself. It’s a matter of timing.

12 He wants to stretch our faith.
He wants to adjust our motive. The circumstances aren’t ready. To remind us He’s in control. Need to deal with the sin in your life.

13 How Should We Wait? Patiently Silently With courage

14 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
What Should We Expect? He will be good to us. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” 25 The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; (Lamentations 3:23-25)

15 He will answer our petition (Ps 40:1).
1 For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. (Ps 40:1)

16 We will see the fruit of our faith (Ps 25:3)
3 No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse (Ps 25:3)
