2 A New Family

3 In addition to this, we are now a family in God through Jesus.

Gal. 4:1-7 – we are redeemed through Jesus We are the brothers and sisters that Jesus spoke of. If we are the brothers and sisters of Jesus then we are brothers and sisters of one another.

8 A New Family As children of God and a spiritual family we have duties toward one another. Rom. 12 – this chapter is a treatise on familial responsibility If we are going to be a family we realize the relevance of each member and the gifts that each of us offers.

9 In verse 8 we see that some are good at exhorting or encouraging.
A New Family vs. 3 –do not think more highly of ourselves than we ought vss. 4-8 – use you “gift” to the benefit of all In verse 8 we see that some are good at exhorting or encouraging. Acts 15:31-32 – Judas and Silas exhorted the brethren at Antioch. Acts 14:21-22 – Paul and Barnabas strengthened the disciples through exhortation.

10 We rejoice with one another. We weep with one another.
A New Family vss – various ways we respond to one another vs. 16 – we respond to one another alike with humility vss – we are not overtaken with evil Gal. 6:1 – if one is overtaken we try to restore We rejoice with one another We weep with one another.

11 A New Family When we are baptized into Christ we are family. We must remember that this family is not hindered by borders, by skin color, by language spoken or any other dividing agent of man.

12 A New Family Acts 9:26-28 – Saul was a member of the family even though those in Jerusalem feared him Acts 11:15-18 – Peter told of the family relationship offered to the Gentiles Gal. 2:11 – Peter had to be reminded of the family relationship Gal. 4:28 – we are one in Christ

13 A New Family We are a family in God. We are adopted of God by obedience to the Gospel and we are family together especially as we decide to work together at a particular location.

14 A New Family I have a physical family of blood and I have a family of the spirit. I am thankful for my physical family. I am thankful for my spiritual family.
