Selecting Your Topic- Topic- subject of your speech
Ex: The Man. Brainstorming- list every idea that comes to mind. Then use audience analysis to narrow down and your own interests.

Word Association: 2. Off of brainstorming ideas list words that come to mind on each topic.

Time for Brain Storming-
Introduction Speech! Time for Brain Storming- How would you introduce super hero or self? Things you want people to know about superhero or self. (Matt Foley) powers? Large, small, unique? Activities Interests? Archnemisis?

Keys to picking topic- Consider your knowledge/interests
Context- Who is your audience. Pick a topic early and STICK WITH IT! Studies prove= more success

Rhetorical Purpose- The intended effect on the audience
In class it is assigned Ex. Introducing a speaker Ex. Inform on a disease or genetic disorder.

After Topic Develop Thesis Statement Thesis: conveys the topic and purpose of the speech. All the different parts of speech tie into the thesis statement. Ah Yes, I want to take over the WORLD!

Quality over Quantity Don’t worry about time- Worry about QUALITY!!
Biggest mistake- people worry if they hit the minimum requirement.
