Goal For 2010: For IEEE to be the First Stop for Technology Information
Be the premier source for technical information to all technology practitioners (in IEEE fields of interests). Be a leader in creating and organizing a variety of technical content and disseminating it to users in a personalized, seamless, coherent, and integrated fashion. Content creation mechanisms would include conferences, publications, tutorials, informal messages (blogs), virtual communities, etc.

Planned Action/Status
Planned Action – Sendai: Pursue the creation of the new journal. VP PA will promote 50/50 co-sponsorship with CS; continue development of formal IEEE TAB proposal. Preliminary special magazine issues will be published to provide data. TAB/CAB will be encouraged to add VR/haptics tracks in upcoming conferences. If successful…submit to AdCom for approval in the future. Status: Burdea guest editing special issue of TVCG on AR+haptics; did not involve RAS members; 80 papers submitted. Initial IEEE proposal completed. Burdea encountered difficulties with principals within TVCG. VP PA for Computer Society: Reduced interest Not generally supporting joint publications Future of the initiative is uncertain.
