What is the motivation of business?
Profit!!!!! People open businesses to provide a good or a service. They do so to make money. If not, why would they do it?

It’s not bad in capitalist America Our government encourages business to succeed. How so? Laissez-faire economics (hands off)

Being smart and aggressive in business Two main tactics of expansion Vertical integration Horizontal integration Led to monopolies, cartels, illegal trusts, etc.

If they were so good, why were they so despised?
What happened to the little guy? The small business owner? What happened to prices in monopolies most often? Ironically, Rockefeller made prices lower through efficiency and the size of his business
