2 The Transcontinental Railroad
The transcontinental railroad was a easy way to get across the united states in the 1850s. In the 1850s you only had 2 choices to take a train or to sail. you would take a train west to Missouri that were the train tracks ended. Abraham Lincoln was a big supporter on this .

3 The Gold Rush The year was 1849 when everybody found out that there was gold in the west. California is were gold miners often looked but they wondered were else can gold be. George Jackson a miner was trying to find gold in Denver, Colorado and he found gold flakes. Miners started looking everywhere west.

4 Cowboys By the end of the civil war there were a lot of cattle in Texas. the cattle only were sold in the west for $4. But in the east the cattle were $40 . They needed a way to sell there cattle so they made the cattle drive. The cattle drives were herds of cattle and guided by cowboys. They stared in Texas and ended in Dodge City , Kansas.
