Surrounded by peaceful woodland in the heart of Coven, Laches Wood is one of the more modern outdoor centres. It comprises of the rich wooded areas sheltering the BMX trails, bushcraft area and canal access for canoeing. Laches Wood will give your child lasting memories and new skills Year 6 June 17th – 21st

2 Trip Timetable Depart school at 09:30 on Monday 17th June (about half an hour drive). Monday – Friday including a one-day expedition (Cannock Chase, Carding Mill Valley). Return for the end of the school day on Friday 21st June.

3 Accommodation Dormitory-style accommodation
Children will have some say in who they stay with. Members of staff (both from school and the centre) will always be on site. Children are expected to look after their own rooms (part of the experience!). Showers and toilets Locked and fully-secure over night

4 A typical day 6:30pm – TUCK-SHOP 7:30am – WAKE-UP 8:00am – BREAKFAST
9:00am – DUTIES 9:15am – BED INSPECTION 9:30am – MEET FOR MORNING ACTIVITIES 12:30pm – LUNCH 1:30pm – MEET FOR AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES 5:00pm – EVENING MEAL 6:00pm - DUTIES 6:30pm – TUCK-SHOP 7:00pm – MEET FOR EVENING ACTIVITIES 9:00pm – SUPPER 9:30pm – BEDTIME

5 Activities Pupils will be split into four groups to rotate through the different activities. Canoeing High Ropes Climbing Archery Caving BMX Biking Bushcraft Canoeing - On the canal - Trained member of staff - Lifejackets etc. High ropes - Full harnesses etc. - Different activities like stacking boxes whilst harnessed up etc. Climbing - Indoor Archery - Indoor Caving BMX Biking - Staff will assess confidence - Circuit round the woods - Different seesaw style things Bushcraft - Cooking on an open fire - Shelter building

7 equipment Kit lists will be sent out nearer the time.
The children will need old clothes that WILL get dirty! They will need two pairs of old trainers in case one pair gets wet. Staffordshire centres are a mobile–free zones. Other electronic equipment can also be left at home. Cameras are allowed as long as the child takes responsibility for them.

8 medication Any medication needs to have been prescribed by a doctor. This includes: Hay fever medication, ibuprofen, Calpol etc. A separate medical form needs to be completed in school for this and you will need to bring the medication in and sign on the morning of the trip. There are people trained in first-aid on site at all times. We will have your contact details in case of illness or an emergency.

9 Where next? Payment details:
There is £295 to pay in total (including the £40 deposit). You can pay this off whenever you want on ParentPay (up to one month before the trip). You can pay off a minimum of £10 at a time. Equipment and medical letters will be sent out closer to the time. The website will be updated frequently during our trip so that you can keep up with what we’re up to!
