Lesson 4 “Effective Communication” Question??? If you were dropped on an island and didn’t speak the same language as the locals, how would you communicate to them? Communication: the sharing of feelings, thoughts and information w/ another person; there are 3 types…. 1) Verbal Communication: spoken or said 2) Written Communication: on paper, , texts, etc. 3) Non-Verbal Communication: use of body language, motions, facial expressions

Question? How do you handle arguments with your friends when
you’re angry??? Types of Messages….. 1) You-Message: statement that blames or shames another(pointing fingers) ex. “You are so annoying when you talk like that!” 2) I-Message: a positive way to communicate…it contains…. a) the behavior b) the effect of the behavior c) feeling that results ex. “Because I had to wait for you(a), I missed the 1st half of the game(b) and I’m very upset(c)!”

When can communication get confusing? Has communication among
your friends gotten easier or harder with cell phones/ etc.??? What does this mean? LOL <3U !!! TTYL BTW OMG Mixed Messages: statements that have two meanings a) may include body language b) tone of voice “Sarcasm” This can lead to…. Hidden Anger: anger that is not expressed, it will build up and be taken out on someone else ex. road rage, yelling at a pet Anger Cues: signs a person is angry or upset ex. red face, heavy breathing crossed arms, eyebrows
