3. Biological Sex, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression

Gender Expression:

4. Binary versus Non-Binary
the classification of sex and gender into two distinct, opposite and disconnected forms of masculine and feminine.
Male and Female
Non-Binary:
a catch-all category for gender identities that are not exclusively masculine or feminine — identities which are thus outside of the gender binary and cisnormativity.

5. They/Their/Them are the best terms to use until you are certain of the preferred pronouns. They/Their/Them is used to refer to a single individual now!

6. Romantic Orientation refers to the gender(s)/sex(es) that a person may be attracted to and how they compare to that person’s own gender. Romantic orientation refers to romantic attraction (who a person may want to date or fall in love with) rather than who they may want to have sex with. It is especially relevant to asexual people, but many people have a sexual orientation that is different from their romantic orientation. There is a romantic equivalent to all sexual orientations. Ex: biromantic.
Sexual orientation refers to the gender(s)/sex(es) that a person may be sexually attracted to and how they compare to that person’s own gender. It is often confused with sexual preference, which refers to the kinds of sexual activity a person may enjoy.
