Humans are social animals which involves communicating with each other. Communication refers to the exchange of information. Communication in humans begins at birth There are 2 types of communication: Verbal Non-verbal The importance of non-verbal communication in the formation of relationships between individuals and how it can signal attitudes and emotions as well as acting as an aid to verbal communication. Verbal communication is used in the transmission of knowledge, development of culture and social evolution Language uses symbols to represent information and enables it to be organised into categories and hierarchies thus accelerating learning and intellectual development.

Verbal communication: is used in the transmission of knowledge, development of culture and social evolution involves a system of sounds into spoken words and can also be represented as written symbols. Symbols represent information and enables it to be organised into categories and hierarchies. The ability to make sophisticated use of language is one of the features that sets humans apart from other animals. The importance of non-verbal communication in the formation of relationships between individuals and how it can signal attitudes and emotions as well as acting as an aid to verbal communication. The effect of communication
Knowledge can be passed to future generations through spoken or written word without them having to make each new discovery for themselves Therefore language promotes the acceleration of learning and intellectual development The importance of non-verbal communication in the formation of relationships between individuals and how it can signal attitudes and emotions as well as acting as an aid to verbal communication.
