Mrs. Ibos’s and Mrs. Kornfuhrer’s 4th grade Classroom News Week of: October 8TH – 11TH, 2018 Upcoming Events Homework October 11th – End of 1st Quarter; Terrific Turtles at 9am October12th – No students; ½ Prof. Dev. and ½ day Record keeping October 17th – PTA Meeting at 9:15 October 24th & 25th – Family Learning Night 5:30-7:00 Food Drive: Monday, Oct. 15th - Friday, Oct. 19th. This year the Food Bank’s goal is to provide complete Thanksgiving meals to families, so they are asking that we collect boxes of cake mix, instant potatoes, stuffing mix, and canned cranberry sauce. Please consider donating. ELA: study vocabulary Unit 3, Nouns Unit study guide, read for 15 minutes Math: study multiplication facts daily; Tuesday-Lesson 1 and Wednesday-Lesson 2; Moby Max-Math/Fact Fluency 15 to 20 minutes daily Science: review study guide daily (test will be next week) Social Studies: review study guide Wed. A Peek At What We Are Learning ELA: Noun Unit Quiz Thursday; Vocabulary Unit 3 Test Thursday; Narrative Writing; Theme Test Wednesday. Math: End of module assessment Monday on metric conversions; moving into area and perimeter Tuesday; apply formulas (Perimeter=L+L+W+W and Area=LxW); solve word problems involving area and perimeter Science: No Test this week; in-class lab activities for a grade; The 3 Types of Rocks- learning more about sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks through some hands-on learning. Lab reports completed in class for a grade. Social Studies: No Test this week; in-class activity of creating a treasure map; discuss main reasons for exploration and the French and Indian War; study guide will be given Wed.
