Ideas about targets and terms:__________________ Exchange of materials- happens at cell membrane Diffusion-particles move from high concentration to low concentration Concentration- amount of particles in a volume (space) Osmosis- diffusion of water through the cell membrane, from high to low concentration of water particles, cell wall of plants keeps cell from exploding in pure water Passive transport- no energy used, particles move through proteins in cell membrane (protein doorways), diffusion (from high to low concentration) Active transport- ATP used to open protein doorway, from low to high concentration Endocytosis- cell membrane surrounds particle outside cell, makes vesicle, particles do not go through the membrane Exocytosis- vesicle made by ER or Golgi, travel to cell membrane, combines with cell membrane to release particles outside.
