1 … on this day people decorate the Christmas tree! On 8 th December people celebrate the Immaculate Conception of Mary. This festival marks the beginning of Christmas time..

2 On 13 th of December we celebrate Saint Lucy day (Santa Lucia). On this day according to the tradition people in Palermo eat arancine (rice balls filled with minced meat, crumbed and fried in oil) and cuccìa (wheat grains boiled and dressed with ricotta cheese, pieces of chocolate and candied fruit).

3 On Christmas Eve people have a big dinner with their relatives and then…….

4 …go to church!

5 At midnight or on Christmas day morning presents are opened……

6 ….someone in the family dresses up as a Santa Clauss assistant to make little kids happy !

7 On Christmas day people have a big lunch and play christmas card games.

8 As everywhere else in the world people spend 31 st December night toasting the New Year!

9 On 6 th January, Epiphany day, Christmas time is over! The night before, according to the tradition, the befana, a very old lady flying over the houses by a broom, takes presents to the good kids and black charcoal to the bad ones! Kids always wait for that day as there will be presents and sweets for everybody!
