NEXRAD Network Over 140 high resolution towers
Operated by National Weather Service (NWS) Precipitation and atmospheric data The NEXRAD (Next Generation Radar) network consists of 158 high resolution towers operated by the National Weather Service. These towers collect precipitation and atmospheric data using Doppler radar. 1/14/ :45 PM

The Problem Over 140 towers 130 terabytes of data 9 million files
Complex radar data NWS uses the data collected to created 1 hour accumulations maps. Hydrologists and researchers could benefit from a greater variety of products but many lack the expertise required to use the data.
