pH Levels By: Tara Knott, Amie Woolard, & Ally Mattingly

PICOT Question: In catalyzing the H2O2 does increasing the pH levels from 5 pH to 7 pH to 9 pH decrease the amount of oxygen over 200 seconds observation time?
3
Experiment: Obtained Materials Set up Logger Pro ®
Set 3 test tubes in the test tube holder 6mL of pH 5 was added to test tube 1 6mL of 3% H2O2 then was added to test tube 1 We plugged test tube 1 with the gas pressure sensor immediately after adding 2 drops of 400u/mL enzyme solution. We collected data for 200 seconds while agitating the test tube. We then repeated steps only in test tube 2 using pH 7 and in test tube 3 using pH9.

Results By increasing the pH level the amount of oxygen increases as well.
