THE WATER CYCLE
2
Water Cycle Another name for the water cycle is the hydrological cycle. The hydrological cycle/ water cycle is an interchange or recycling of water between the air, sea and land. As such, it is a continuous process in which water moves through the environment.
3
Processes in the Water Cycle
Condensation: the process by which vapour changes to liquid to form clouds. Evaporation: the process by which water turns into vapour as it rises. Precipitation: the process by which moisture reaches the surface. Transpiration: the process by which plants lose moisture.
4
Processes in the Water Cycle
Surface run-off: the process by which water runs of the surface. Percolation: the downward filtering of water. Through Flow: the lateral movement of water. Infiltration: the process by which the soil gradually admits water. Evapo-transpiration: the combination of evaporation and transpiration processes. Groundwater: the water is held in the soil beneath the surface.
