1 NEASC 2014 The Plan “Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you know that the College is preparing for a NEASC visit in “NEASC, or the New England Association of Schools and Colleges is the regional accrediting body for the New England States and has defined 11 standards that need to be addressed in the accreditation process. Lela has asked me to update you today on the current status of our preparative efforts and how the process will be unfolding over the next 2 years, I.e. -the plan.

2 NEASC Expectations Address all (newly revised) Eleven Standards
Description of current practices ASSESSMENT of current practices Projection Emphasis on effective assessments performance with respect to student achievement enhancement of Institutional Effectiveness Timeframe should include last ten years Candor, insight, and evidence of effective interventions are key ingredients “As I have states, NEASC has established 11 standards - currently revised, for accreditation and each of them has to be address in the following way: The College needs to “Provide a clear Description how CCRI is addressing the issues identified in each standard, including information that describes how our programs, processes, services, etc. have evolved” over the last ten years. Provide an ASSESSMENT on how CCRI is meeting the stated expectations for each Standard. The revised standards emphasize Effective assessment Student achievement How practices all contribute to The effectiveness of the institution. Once the assessment is complete, the project’s next step is to implement revisions or new practices in areas that have been identified as needing improvement. Needless to say , the visiting team will be assessing our institution’s ability to be honest with itself and its resourcefulness, skill, and willingness to implement new approaches. Co-chairs are in the process of forming their teams with the expectation that all teams in place by September at the latest. NEASC TEAM

4 Phase I September 2011 – January 2012
Draft an outline of Description of CCRI’s current programs/services/status with respect to each Standard (by 10/31/2011) Draft outline of ASSESSMENT of CCRI’s compliance by Standard (by11/30/2011) Identify areas for IMPROVEMENT as focus areas for CCRI in coming months (01/15/2012) CCRI’s self study process has been divided into three Phases. The first Phase will begin in September and will hopefully be completed by January. Step one will include Co-chairpersons leading each committee to outline a description of how CCRI address each standard. Teams will also need to outline what measures the College has in place to assess the effectiveness of its compliance with the Standard. Steps 1 and 2 will allow for the identification of, and focus on, areas that require improvement. Phase I September 2011 – January 2012

5 Goals for Phase I Present findings to President’s Council
Present findings & seek input via Open Forums Spring 2012 Consolidate feedback in preparation for Phase II Goals for Phase I It is critical that we demonstrate in writing that we have the ability to honestly assess ourselves and determine the steps we are taking to lead to improvement. Phase one completion will involve presentation of team findings to the college community and the incorporation any feedback received in preparation for phase 2 of the project.

6 Using feedback from President’s Council and Open Forums:
Design new and/or revise targeted existing practices to strengthen compliance with NEASC Standards Implement new initiatives identified in Phases I and II Based on the information gathered in Phase 1, each Standard’s committee will be asked to identify new endeavors and revise existing practices to better address the standard. Once the recommendations for this Phase are complete, departments and programs will initiate implementation the recommendations. Phase II January 2012 – June 2012

7 Phase III September 2012-December 2012 January 2013 – June 2013
Continue to implement initiatives identified in Phases I and II January 2013 – June 2013 Re-assess CCRI’s effectiveness for each Standard Begin preparing drafts for each Standard (Includes Description, Assessment, & Projection) In the third and final phase of the plan , we will once again assess our effectiveness in achieving each standard. Hopefully, based on the wok done in Phase I and acted upon in Phase II, we will be able to realize a positive impact on institutional effectiveness in Phase 3. Once each Committee has completed its reassessment, we will follow the same procedure of reporting our outlines that address all three required areas: Description, Assessment, and Projection. Information for each Standard will be shared with the Committee-of-the-Whole. Phase III

8 Fall 2013 Prepare Final Self-Study
Submit to President’s Council for review Submit to the college community for review Submit Self-Study in December 2013 By Fall 2013, all research and action steps should be complete, and a near Final Draft will be prepared and shared with the college community to include the: The President’s Council The NEASC Executive Team and Committee CCRI Community We will request written feedback by a specific date allowing adequate time to make revisions. The goal is to submit the final document before the end of December 2013. Fall 2013

9 All of the time and effort being put forth by CCRI faculty and staff to assist in the successful completion of NEASC’s 2014 accreditation visit is acknowledged and appreciated.
