1 Journal – (5-7 minutes to complete)
Based on your experiences over the past eleven (or twelve) years of being a student, draft and explain three to four basic laws (rules, policies, good practices) to be followed when working in the library as a class. Keep in mind the following goals, which may influence the drafting of your laws: 1.) Our primary purposes for the library use are computer / text-based research and word processing; 2.) We aspire to use the tools available in the library to accomplish our objectives without hindering the abilities of any other students using the library to accomplish their own work. [Laws must be designed with consideration for intended outcomes (i.e. legislative intent).]

2 Law and Justice: Two Case Studies
Before we can truly embark on a study of law and justice, we must first understand how modern views of these subjects have been molded by history. Using the given source material, as well as any additional sources available in the library, you have three tasks before you: a. Research and outline the views of major philosophers on the topic of “justice” as a virtue. Be sure to address the views of major ancient philosophers (Socrates, Plato, Aristotle). Your final product for Part A. will be a basic chart/organizer. b. Visit  Log in, and you should have “Justice Delayed" assigned to you for viewing.  As you view, identify and record disparities between behavior mandated by law and actual justice. As in Part A., you may do this in bullet-point format. Username:   WCP+studentnumber Password:     studentnumber   c. Based on what you’ve found, evaluate the relationship between “law” and “justice” as they exist in our modern society. (Your guiding questions should be, “Are modern laws created with “justice” as a guiding force?”, “Is a system of rigid laws mutually exclusive with justice?”, and “What are the ramifications when the law and true justice do not align?”) Your final product will be a ½ to ¾ page typed response. It should be formally written, and thoughtfully address all of the guiding questions. Sources:
