Produce estrogen and release the mature ova (egg)

Ovulation- begins at puberty (menarche) and continues every 28 days until menopause

Pathway for ova to reach the uterus. The site of fertilization.

The womb, where the fetus develops and grows.

Opening to the uterus

8. Endometrium
The nutrient and blood rich lining that will nourish the developing fetus. Discharged or shed during menstruation.

9. Bladder- stores urine until female goes to the bathroom

Female reproductive organ, the birth canal.

Urethral opening- where females urinate
Vaginal Opening- outside of vagina
Clitoris- contributes to sexual arousal, becomes very sensitive
Labia- folds of skin that cover the urethra, vaginal opening and clitoris

12. Menstruation
When the ovum is not fertilized it disintegrates and the endometrium also is shed through menstrual bleeding, called the menstrual period.
