Go Team Battaglia! WELCOME, TEAMMATE, TO ROOM 114! I hope you are as excited about second grade and coming back to school, as I am to be your teacher this year. My name is Mrs. Battaglia. I have been teaching in the Woodstown-Pilesgrove District for 21 years. I’ve spent 16 of those years teaching 5th grade at Woodstown Middle School. This year will be my sixth year teaching second grade at Mary Shoemaker School and I am thrilled to be doing so. I have been working very hard this summer to make our classroom a fun and exciting place to be! We have a lot to learn this year and with your help, I know we will accomplish so much! There are lots of things to learn, memories to be made and much fun to be had! Once school starts, we will spend time getting to know each other, but I thought you might want to know a little about me. I grew up in Salem County and went to Penns Grove High School. I attended Rowan University, where I earned my teaching degree. I now live in Woolwich Township with my husband, Brian and two children, Joey and Gianna. Joey is fifteen years old and entering tenth grade. Gianna just turned twelve years old and is entering seventh grade. We also have a dog, named Mack and a cat named Asbury. I love the warm summer weather, snow in the winter, vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles, the beach and Disney World. I love children, teaching and school and I hope that after spending time in our classroom, you will love learning as much as I do! I hope you all are enjoying your summer break and doing many fun and exciting things. I can’t wait to hear all about them in September! As we prepare to head back to school, remember in the next few weeks to read as much as you can and practice those addition and subtraction math facts. Once school starts, I will give you and your family much more specific information about our journey through 2nd grade together. Included with this packet, there is also a list of supplies that you will need for second grade. I know you and your families are eager to start getting prepared. Please try to have all of your supplies by Monday, September 1, Finally, feel free to check out our website for even more information about our classroom at I can’t wait to meet you in just a couple of weeks! Sincerely,
