It is easy to travel to Japan (only nine hours by plane). There is no visa required and the time difference is only one hour behind Australia! Many exchange programs have already been set up through education, art, sport, business, sister school and sister city relationships …

Japanese is spoken worldwide
It is also used in Hawaii, Peru and Brazil and taught in many schools in Korea, China, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. The aqua shaded areas show where it is a minority language. Did you know Japanese is spoken by over 127 million people living in Japan?

Japanese is easy to pronounce …
Japanese is a phonetic language, which means it is easy to pronounce. There are three scripts used. Hiragana represents the sounds of Japanese. Once you have learned the hiragana sounds, you can pronounce any word. Kanji Hiragana Katakana Rōmaji English 私 わたし ワタシ watashi I, me Katakana is used for words from other countries and Kanji (borrowed Chinese characters) is used for concepts and words.
