Star-gazing at Lake Tahoe
2
When to visit Lake Tahoe to see those stars?
The best time to visit Lake Tahoe to see the stars is in August. The temperatures range from the low 80˚s to the high 70˚s, with an average low of 40˚. Tahoe usually doesn’t get more than a half an inch of rain in August. Lake Tahoe also gets between 10 and 11 hours of darkness each night, allowing for ample star-gazing.
3
Seasons The seasons in Tahoe, like the seasons elsewhere in the Northern Hemisphere are caused by the tilt of the Earth. Because the earth orbits around the sun at a 23.5 degree angle, it receives more direct sunlight during parts of the year and less at others. This means that the weather is warmer in the summer time, both day and night. If you want to enjoy nice balmy nights then summertime is when you should visit!
4
The Lunar Cycle for the month of August
The best nights to go star-gazing at Lake Tahoe in August would be the beginning and end of the month for the year This is because more of the moon will be shaded by the Earth and it will be darker. August 18th will be more difficult because it will be a full moon.

Secondary Sources 2012/: This website detailed trips to view a meteor shower occurring in August It had some useful information about meteor showers and the circumstances important to see them, but not as much for this project. I mainly used the website for its images. However, someone without astronomy knowledge would benefit from learning about “shooting stars.” This source explained the seasons in a simple way. It had many pictures and diagrams that could help someone without knowledge of astronomy learn. This slide could be helpful for others, but only confirmed knowledge I knew previously.
