Abundant oval and spindle cells with numerous vascular spaces resembling malignant hemangiopericytoma are present. Electron microscopy did not reveal basement membranes, but did demonstrate desmosomes. The histologic pattern and electron microscopy are consistent with a high grade monophasic synovial sarcoma (Hematoxylin and eosin, ×200).
