What do you mean that you don’t have my new address? I notified the NATA when I moved last summer.
I don’t agree with this administrative rule. I don’t know why I keep my membership.

Do the two organizations always battle each other?
Thankfully, no
A strong association needs a strong regulatory board… and vice versa
95% of time, board and association are on the same page. We each have the same end goal in mind. Board gets at that end goal by identifying how the public will be protected and the association gets at that end goal by identifying how this will advance the profession.
For example, reimbursement of AT services in the clinic. Association wants this because it benefits ATs and makes them more marketable. Board might support this because it could increase consumer access to services, especially in underserved areas, which would be a public protection issue.

15. Role of Board is to effectively & efficiently regulate practice
Identify and eliminate unneeded regulatory barriers
Is this regulatory change worth the negative impact on the profession?
Board can’t regulate in a vacuum
Board can’t regulate the profession in a vacuum.
Examples – apple is benefit to public protection and the orange is the negative impact on the profession
If there is a major benefit to public protection and no or minor negative impact on the profession, board should always go forward with the change because of the positive outcome related to public protection
If there is a major negative impact on the profession, but no or only a negligible benefit to public protection, Board should likely NOT make the change because the negative impact on the profession is not outweighed by the public protection benefit
If there is no/minor benefit public protection and no/minor negative impact on the profession, board needs to really examine the change to determine how to proceed. In many cases, discussion with the association will lead to a third path that both benefits public protection and the profession
