1 WELCOME TO MISSION EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL 2018-2019 New Student Orientation

2 Agenda for March 12th 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Sign-In/Meet and Greet 9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Welcome/Expectations 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. EPCC: Teams A & B MECHS Clubs & Organizations: Teams C & D 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. EPCC: Teams C & D MECHS Clubs & Organizations: Teams A & B 10:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m. Spanish Placement Test

3 Expectations: Attendance
Make it count. Be in school everyday. One absence really equals 2 10 Unexcused absences within a 6 month period = court 4 or 5 Absences (excused or unexcused = LOC) It is your responsibility to request make up work upon your return within two days. Make sure you bring your doctor’s note Extenuating circumstances

4 Expectations: Grades You must be in good academic standing to remain in Mission It is unacceptable to be failing because you are missing assignments You will be placed on a contract if your grades are unacceptable No schedule changes will be allowed after the first four days of the semester

5 Expectations: College Ready
You will complete at least an associates degree by the time you graduate from MECHS. Pass TSI reading by the time you became a 9th grader Pass TSI writing by the end of your sophomore year Pass TSI mathematics by the end of your Junior Take a dual credit math and English course during your Junior year Meningitis shot You must remain in good academic status in both EPCC/UTEP and MECHS Only 6 Ws allowed You cannot drop any dual credit courses. May be responsible for cost of class and textbooks.

6 Expectations: Discipline
MECHS students are expected to act at a higher standard Students could be send back to their home campus depending on infraction There is absolutely zero tolerance for bullying, threats (to include terroristic threats), infractions at a Level III and Level IV of the student code of conduct Students must follow SISD dress code at all times
