Common Heart Problems Heart Valve Problems
Stenotic Valve- hardened valve restricting blood flow Regurgitation- “leaky valve” valve does not close tightly Heart Chamber Problems Systolic Heart Failure- weak or enlarged heart causing left ventricle to lose its ability to contract. Diastolic Failure- the chamber becomes stiff and loses its ability to relax and fill with blood Artery Problems Coronary Artery Disease- arteries supplying blood to heart become hardened and narrowed. Rhythm Problems Arrhythmias- irregular heartbeat due to disruption of normal electrical rhythm of the heart. Circulatory Problems Heart Attack- reduced blood flow to the heart causing damaged heart muscle. Stroke- reduced blood flow to the brain causing damaged brain cells.
