5 Horseback Training 1. Usual D of E exped training
2. Additional skills specific to the area 3. BHS Riding and Road Safety Test or Pony Club Rider Test Bear in mind your campsite will also need to accommodate the horses 15/01/2019

6 Horseback Distances Bronze: 15 – 20 miles Silver: 37 - 46 miles
Gold: 50 – 62 miles Choose an aim which is achievable without using too much planned activity time as this will largely be taking up by journeying and care of horses 15/01/2019

7 Paddling/rowing Distances – will vary but could typically be
Training 1. Usual D of E exped training 2. Additional skills specific to environment 3. Core paddling/rowing skills 4. Any additional Licensed Organisation/AAP requirements Distances – will vary but could typically be Bronze – miles Silver – 40 miles Gold – 80 miles 15/01/2019

8 Paddling/rowing Environments
Bronze – canals, rivers, inland waterways or lakes Silver – as above but unfamiliar to participants Gold – As above and sheltered coastal waters or estuaries. Should pass through wild country and involve moving water. Unfamiliar to participants Craft Sea kayaks, touring kayaks open canoes are all good load carriers and usually straight-running Rowing: needs a craft designed to do just that 15/01/2019
