2 Education for Nurses working in the Stroke Unit
Course Description The nursing stroke course is a six weeks, asynchronous online course that will be managed by the GSH. The course aims at providing the required skills needed to support nurses, while carrying their nursing duties. As previously noted in the context analysis, a medical writer will be responsible for writing short, interesting and targeted articles on stroke. The team will also consist of a web developer who is responsible for updating the content of the website and an instructional designer. Using simulations, audio, video, text and the interactive learning environment, it is believed that the clinician will be motivated to follow through the learning experience to become capable and more knowledge in the subject matter as it relates to nurse working in a stroke unit.

3 Education for Nurses working in the Stroke Unit
Course Information This is course is for 8 weeks. Week 1 is the ice breaker week and week 8 is the farewell and reflections week

4 Education for Nurses working in the Stroke Unit
Course Audience This course is for employees of GSH, who are nurses currently working in the Stroke Unit of the hospital. They are older and have working knowledge of stroke, but lack the time and skills required to keep up with new trends in stroke cure

5 Education for Nurses working in the Stroke Unit
Course Objectives Upon completing this course, students will be able to: In general, develop an instinctive sense of how smart phones, tablets and computers work and how they can be used to make learning more efficient Describe how to create, send and receive messages using Google, Yahoo and Microsoft free services Identify and describe effective strategies and practices to facilitate stroke recovery in accordance with rehabilitation guidelines Identify and describe practices that promote clinical proficiency including time management strategies, accessing protected work time to search and appraise research, and critically evaluating diverse resources for continuing education and professional development Describe Evidence-based practice (EBP) and identify practical strategies and best practice guidelines for promoting EBP in the stroke recovery clinical setting Given stroke patient case scenarios, determine patient problems and identify appropriate care methods
