In Indonesia, at least four antenatal visits are recommended during pregnancy. However, these services have been underutilized and the number of Low Birth Weight (LBW) have increased. Almost 2-27% of all prenatal death is caused by prematurity with LBW. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between LBW and prenatal care services in Indonesia Table 1. Correlation Between LBW and Prenatal Services. Prenatal care services in the late trimester play the most substantial role since pregnancy complications mostly arise in the late stages of pregnancy. Besides, mothers with inadequate weight potentially have low birth weight baby and increase the risk of prenatal morbidity and mortality. Anemia control through the administration iron tablets in pregnancy also able to prevent clinical manifestations that include fetal growth restriction, preterm delivery, and low birth weight. Figure 1. LBW Proportion in All Provinces (2010 & 2013) based on National Health Survey Method This study used Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS) 5 year 2014 data by RAND Labor & Population. The number of respondent were from 50,148 individuals who have interviewed in this survey. Respondents were the women years old who have pregnancy ended after 2008 until Prenatal care services in Indonesia consist of weight and height measurement, blood pressure, Hemoglobin test, height fetal and fetal heartbeat, internal examination, measurement of hips, iron pills and Tetanus Toxoid (TT) Injection services . Figure 3. Number of LBW Based on Health Facilities where mothers receive prenatal care Conclusion The findings of this study showed that weight measurement services and the number of iron pills received in prenatal care services were related in number of LBW in Indonesia. The health facility and multiple pregnancy were the other factors influenced the LBW in Indonesia Figure 2. IFLS Provinces in Indonesia Result and Discussion Prevalence of Low Birth Weight was 8,47%. There was no correlation between number of low birth weight and number of visits pregnancy care in the first and second semester, but significant correlation in third semester. Based on prenatal care services, number of iron pills received was and weight measurement with LBW. The percentage of infants with the highest LBW was sourced from mothers who had their pregnancies checked and received prenatal care in traditional health practices (dukun) and other health facilities.
