2. Purpose
Finding the Relationship between the Strength of the Bridge and the number of marbles or Vice Versa

3. Materials Uncooked long spaghetti strand Plastic cups String
Unit masses: Small marbles, and Big marbles
Weighing scale

4. General Info. Don't get the tables too far apart!
Have each group increase the number of marbles until the bridge breaks.
Record the last number of marbles before the bridge breaks.
Have each group assign a "catcher" for the cup, otherwise there will be potentially dangerous marbles scattered all over the floor.

5. Procedure (Con.)
1) Record the mass of each marble, both the small and the big, on the weight scale
2) Decide on a role (On the next slide)
2) On a separate piece of paper, you will record 5 trials in a nicely drawn chart
3) For every trial, you will increase by two spaghetti strands (Total of 10 strands)
4) Please lightly put in the marbles, DO NOT throw or just drop!!

6. Roles Everyone will participate in a group of four Roles:
Marble Catcher
Recorder for number of maximum marbles held
Marble Counter
Spaghetti Strand cleaner
When finished with all the data collection for 5 trials, everyone will clean up and put materials back where they belong
