Born: February 6, 1756 Died: September 14, 1836 A Aaron Burr, Jr. was the third Vice President of the United States; he served during President Thomas Jefferson's first term. After serving as a Continental Army officer in the Revolutionary War, Burr became a successful lawyer and politician.

Abstract This presentation will be answering this question: "Why was the election of 1800 also called the revolution of 1800?" The problem was that the candiatates running for president got the same number of electoral votes and the House of Representatives had to choose the president.

Election In 1800 there was an election.
Thomas Jefferson and Aaron burr were running for president, and Vice President. Which ever candidate got the higher amount of votes would become president. Which ever candidate got the lower amount of votes would become the Vice President.

Election Each candidate had the same amount of electoral votes.
The house or representatives had to vote. The House of Representatives chose Jefferson as president , and burr as Vice President.

Revoultion This turned into a revolution because people didn't agree that Jefferson should be presidnent. They also didn't agree with the fact that they should choose they felt as thought the people should revote. The people started to protest.

Revolution The opposition party , the federalists, and the House of Representatives were mainly casting their votes for burr to oppose a Jefferson presidency. The twelfth amendment made eletors cast distinct votes for president and Vice President.
