The Transcontinental Railroad
The transcontinental railroad was a railroad that stretched across the country. The first transcontinental railroad was built by by the Union Pacific and the Central Pacific. The Central Pacific had to build their railroad in the Sierra Nevada mountains in California and the Union Pacific started building their railroad in the flat plains of Nebraska. As the workers kept building the railroads they had stumbled upon the two Native American groups the Lakota and the Cheyeena. A Lakota chief named Red Cloud did not want the Union and Central Pacific to keep building the railroad.
