2 Additional Support to Fishman’s Argument: Chapter 9
Consider the following questions before you meet in discussion groups today: Explain what Fishman describes as “The Economics of Water” and the ideas about water distribution and water priorities that are described in this chapter. How does Fishman propose we use the market to allocate water? Also, describe the tier pricing of water that Fishman talks about in this chapter as well as Young’s ideas about water. How does this chapter fit in with Fishman’s overall thesis? Is the pricing system Fishman proposes in this chapter something that should be implemented? Why?

3 Beyond the Chapter Now that we’ve had a chance to discuss much of the content of Fishman’s book, we can think about what Fishman has to say as a whole. Consider the following question and answer it with as much support from the book as you can find: Of all the ways Fishman proposes that we think about water and all of the solutions he explores to water problems, which do you think are the best? Why?
