Context Clues: For a very long time the typical doctor or dentist was a man. Context Clues: “Bethany Hamilton has never been a typical surfer like all the others” (Comeback, pg 374). Define: Something that is typical is usual, normal, or common. Ask: Is the typical doctor or dentist always a man now? How has it changed? typical

Context Clues: It usually takes people many years to become a specialist in their field, because they must learn so much. Context Clues: “Bethany was rushed to the hospital where specialists in limb loss worked on her injury” (Comeback, pg 374). Define: Specialist are people who are experts, or know a great deal about one thing. Ask: Is it easy for people to become specialist? specialists
